Titans: Allan Savory & Dr. Irving Itzkan, Brilliant Men of Science
My father, Dr. Irving Itzkan, was a biomedical physicist affiliated with Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Beth Israel Hospital. He understood the logic of Allan Savory’s ideas immediately and was a fierce supporter of Soil4Climate, and not just because of my affiliation. If he thought there was an ounce of voodoo in anything I or Savory was advocating, he would have told me immediately and unambiguously. He looked over my own technical papers and contributed regularly to our cow purchasing programs for Holistic Planned Grazing in Kenya. He had no problem grokking that cows managed properly can build soil carbon and that we need to build soil carbon to reverse global warming. The fact that intellectual posers (like you know who) think that they know better about atmospheric physics and the efficacy of Savory’s approach than my dad did would be laughable if it weren’t so pathetic. I actually feel sorry for these people. At best they’ll simply be forgotten. People like Savory and my dad, however, will be remembered. In that fact, we can take solace. The future is still hopeful. I owe it to my father’s honor, and to the unfinished work of Allan Savory, to be steadfast in that belief.
